Danam Nagender presents a new dimension to the Election Campaign of 2014.

Behind all the Image that sections of the media have built for him, Danam has a humane heart.  On being informed of the efforts of Kruti Beesam, a physically challenged youngster fighting for ramps he gave her time at his residence and Kruti handed over a representation on the requirement of ramps at all polling booths.  Nagender gave a patient hearing to Kruti, wrote a letter to the Chief Electoral Officer and promised Kruti that he would look her up when he visited Punjagutta area.  He did keep his promise and met Kruti and her family at her residence.
Contrary to popular opinions of how politicians are running campaigns using unethical means, Danam Nagender presents a new dimension to the Election Campaign of 2014.

Resident Welfare Associations

Danam Nagender is again maybe the only leader from Khairatabad constituency who made an attempt to meet the RWAs (Resident Welfare Associations).  He attended RWA meets with Umanagar & Methodist Colony.  The citizens from the middle class colonies appreciated the fact that the former Minister did come to visit them on many occasions even though there were some issues which needed his attention.  He expressed the view that the RWAs were like his extended family and he looked forward to living up to their expectations.

GeoMap Systems Pvt Ltd (Khairatabad Election Information System Map)

Danam has commissioned GeoMap Systems Pvt Ltd a Hyderabad based mapping company to generate GIS based maps / reports to impart a scientific thrust to the campaign.  He provided the data at the polling booth levels and the same was linked to the polling booth locations.  This enabled identification of the distribution patterns party wise to understand trends and voting patterns.  Further another map out put showed the voting share of the Congress party at booth level, to Spatially understand areas of strength & weakness.  Going further, Danam team identified booths where the party had a higher vote percentage as well as large number of votes went unpolled in 2009.  These booths have been identified for door to door campaign by specially trained teams.
The door to door teams carried post cards to elicit views of the voters and provide a feedback.  It was a cost effective method with about 1000 post cards distributed and people reacting with their support and also indicating areas of concern.

Social media (Google Hangout)

Every day a small team using I Pad, Video Cam and mobile phones captures images, small films and views from the Congress party cadre and citizens who visit him at his residence as well as those who accompany him on the campaign trail. These pictures are almost immediately uploaded on the Social media sites of Danam, facebook (Danam Nagender), twitter (@ghccchief).  The response has been fantastic, with his friends (over 5000) sharing his pics & posts on their timelines and homepages.  It has been seen that youngsters are responding with enthusiasm and energy and sharing their views on the campaign.
Danam is perhaps the only leader who has participated in a Google hang out session in an effort to reach out to netizens across the globe to get a pulse of the people.

Danam’s Innovative Campaign

As the Election campaign in the Telanagana region hits the home run phase the various conventional & traditional methods of campaigning reach a crescendo.  As the media over kill of the Election coverage presents the average citizen with informed choices, it does leave them a bit confused.  So many candidates, so many parties who want to serve the nation!!!
With the Election commission having launched a massive campaign to make citizens vote and targeting a 75-80% voting figure, all seem to be playing their parts in this Festival of democracy.
However here is a politician who has worked out an innovative campaign which has innovation, technology and humane attitude.  Danam Nagender, the Congress Candidate from Khairatabad constituency has put in place a campaign team to reach out to the citizens of his constituency through a campaign which is unconventional.

A PROMISE KEPT

A common opinion about politicians is not very positive but I had a unique experience. I met a man who could look beyond his career and give importance to humanity – Mr. Danam Nagender! I went to him with a request of making life easy for people like me with disabilities along with the senior citizens of the nation. I wanted him to get ramps built at polling booths so we could exercise our vote with ease. When I first visited him, it was a busy day and a countless number of people were waiting to get a glimpse of him. I went with the same hope and I was surprised to see the warmth with which he received not only me but also a few others waiting there.
Speaking about my experience he immediately came to see me when he got a word from a man. After we exchanged formal greetings he enquired about my visit. Then I presented to him my request in the form of a representation letter which he read keenly. After getting to know my request he appreciated me for my efforts and promised to do all that he can to make my next voting experience a bliss. I was feeling positive but the promptness with which he kept his promise took me by surprise. Within a few weeks the newspapers announced ramps in every polling booths along with drinking water facilities for all the voters. This made me believe that there are good people in this world who want to look after the people who need some extra care.

Within no time I got another opportunity to meet the generous man and I thanked him for his quick response to my request. This experience of mine made me realize that my generalized approach towards politicians needed to be changed to a specific one where each individual is to be understood before judging him/her. There is always some scope for development with leaders like Mr. Danam Nagender on our side. Thank you for being there sir!

"For instance, in the temple controversy, some people were trying to construct sheds without permission. When locals tried to stop it, they were attacked by the police and I reached there to protect them. This was given a different colour by people with vested interest," he says.

"It is common for any public representative or a person in public life to face allegations or cases. Four cases were lodged against me in the past five years and none of them have any basis," he says.

"The housing works and regularization (under GO 166) of slums, including 18 bastis have been delayed by revenue authorities. I will complete the task, apart from all the unfinished work in this term if am given a chance," he told TOI in an interview, while meeting a group of women from the constituency. The former labour minister says he has rolled out Rs 500 crore worth of development activities in the constituency. Most of the funds, he said were spent on roads, drinking water supply and drainage, and the task is still on.

Khairatabad- Danam & Development go hand in hand

Khairatabad- Danam & Development go hand in hand
Danam Nagender, the MLA from Khairatabad is synonymous with development.  It was a tryst of fate which brought Danam Nagender , a true son of the soil of Khairatabad, onto the electoral firmament of this constituency in the year 2009, when he won from here by a majority of 14,000 votes.  Ever since it has been a tale of development and growth.  Easily accessible and with an attitude of taking everyone along Danam Nagender has slowly but surely entrenched himself in this key constituency of Greater Hyderabad.
The Khairatabad Constituency has six corporator divisions namely, Somajiguda, Jubilee Hills, Banjara Hills, Punjagutta, Khairatabad & Himayatnagar.  Nagender is the first MLA who was actually born, belongs to, grew up in and presently lives in the Khairatabad Constituency. Having spent his childhood and younger days in Khairatabad in the general area where the largest Ganesh Idol in the country is installed, it was no wonder that in his victory as MLA, the Khairatabad division contributed the most majority with him winning in 27 booths out of the 28.
A lot of investment has come in towards infrastructure by way of development activities to the tune of Rs 400 Crores in the last five years.  Roads, Drinking water, sewerage lines, High mast lamps, community halls and other infrastructure has come up in the areas which were earlier neglected. Perhaps he is the only MLA who has judiciously used his MLA development funds to the tune of Rs 5 crores for various activities.  Further he was able to get funds from the CM Special funds with which special projects like the 50  bed  super speciality hospital  and establishment of ITI have been taken up. During the COP 11 event several developmental activities were executed. Using the JICA funds through HMDA the Balkapur Nala work was taken up.  Community halls  (about 17) worth Rs 25 lakhs each have been taken up in MS Maqta, BJR Nagar, Nehru Nagar & BS Makhta.  YSR Bhavan in Filmnagar is another case in point. He has also used the DRC meeting to leverage funds for the constituency.
Power bores to augument the water supply have been dug in selected areas.  Pattas have been given under various schemes to the landless.  Under the RAY (Rajiv Awas Yojana) houses have been  taken up in several locations. Old age pensions have been provided.  The minorities have gained tremendously under various schemes meant for their development.
