Khairatabad- Danam & Development
go hand in hand
Danam Nagender, the MLA from Khairatabad is synonymous with
development. It was a tryst of fate
which brought Danam Nagender , a true son of the soil of Khairatabad, onto the
electoral firmament of this constituency in the year 2009, when he won from
here by a majority of 14,000 votes. Ever
since it has been a tale of development and growth. Easily accessible and with an attitude of
taking everyone along Danam Nagender has slowly but surely entrenched himself
in this key constituency of Greater Hyderabad.
The Khairatabad Constituency has six corporator divisions
namely, Somajiguda, Jubilee Hills, Banjara Hills, Punjagutta, Khairatabad &
Himayatnagar. Nagender is the first MLA
who was actually born, belongs to, grew up in and presently lives in the
Khairatabad Constituency. Having spent his childhood and younger days in
Khairatabad in the general area where the largest Ganesh Idol in the country is
installed, it was no wonder that in his victory as MLA, the Khairatabad
division contributed the most majority with him winning in 27 booths out of the
28.
A lot of investment has come in towards infrastructure by
way of development activities to the tune of Rs 400 Crores in the last five
years. Roads, Drinking water, sewerage
lines, High mast lamps, community halls and other infrastructure has come up in
the areas which were earlier neglected. Perhaps he is the only MLA who has
judiciously used his MLA development funds to the tune of Rs 5 crores for various
activities. Further he was able to get
funds from the CM Special funds with which special projects like the 50 bed
super speciality hospital and
establishment of ITI have been taken up. During the COP 11 event several
developmental activities were executed. Using the JICA funds through HMDA the
Balkapur Nala work was taken up.
Community halls (about 17) worth
Rs 25 lakhs each have been taken up in MS Maqta, BJR Nagar, Nehru Nagar &
BS Makhta. YSR Bhavan in Filmnagar is
another case in point. He has also used the DRC meeting to leverage funds for
the constituency.
Power bores to
augument the water supply have been dug in selected areas. Pattas have been given under various schemes
to the landless. Under the RAY (Rajiv
Awas Yojana) houses have been taken up
in several locations. Old age pensions have been provided. The minorities have gained tremendously under
various schemes meant for their development.
